Macao, a new vest pattern
Inspired by the minimalist wardrobe of Japanese fashion, Macao is a jacket or waistcoat with clean lines. This pattern offers a loose fit with dropped shoulders. A neckline band structures the garment and can be embellished with optional buttons. It is a quick and fairly simple project to make with attractive finishes; the folded seams create strong and elegant joins on both the right side and the wrong side, making the jacket reversible if you use a jacquard fabric or double-sided quilting.

Inspirations
Macao works equally well in woven and knitted fabrics. In denim, corduroy, gabardine or canvas, the jacket has a rather casual, urban style. In quilted or woollen fabrics, it becomes warm and ultra-comfortable. Beautiful jacquards make it chic and original. Finally, thick linen is a more summery alternative.
Macao can also be made into a slightly oversized waistcoat when sewn in French terry, sweatshirt fabric, fleece or sherpa.
