Autumn/winter 16 trends

In the lookbooks, runway shows and boutiques...

A neo-victorian spirit is reinforced this autumn with a focus on ruffles, but also British chic and casual undertones.

80s and 90s influences redefine volume for this collection. With a strong XXL and oversized feel, shoulders are elongated whilst shapes are given bigger, better profiles.

Streetwear also makes its return into seasonal collections with the reemergence of sweatshirts, hoodies and jersey dresses. Bomber jackets and varsity silhouettes are given a whimsical edge with fun patch and badge adornment. Style with skirts and jeans - not forgetting the iconic trainer, of course.

Back and better than ever, vintage silhouettes continue to beguile with a timeless bohemian edge. Inspired by 70s cult classics, ladieswear was resplendent with flared jeans, suede and frayed hems - for children, the style is more gipsy-influenced.

Offering a more discreet style, military chic is flowing as an undercurrent through a more dominant aesthetic - workwear. Styled with dungarees, boiler suits, jean shirts and quilted outerwear, apparent zips and comfortable classics make their comeback for the season ahead.

Not forgetting rebel rock, British, workwear and gipsy designs can always be repurposed with a touch of heavy metal chic - to be styled at will like the rockstar you are!

Regarding accessories, high skate socks add a touch of Americana high school chic to any ensemble - along with the belt bag (our favourite design to make its comeback this season).

Preppy British

Authentic tartan overtakes the stripe this season as rock attitude gets a modern overhaul with British folklore nostalgia. A subtle mix of punk and pretty, chic designs are repurposed with a trend-conscious approach to everyday style. Blazers, capes, pleated skirts, ruffle blouses, high collared shirts, suspenders, high socks, boots, trainers, slogan tees and biker jackets.

Casual Street style : bomber jackets, hoods and pop badges

A comfortable urban outlook for everyday style: street casual gets a modern refresh with jean separates, leggings, drainpipes, jogging pants and jersey dresses that can be paired with hoodies, zippered tees and decorated with colourful badges and iron-on patches.

Workwear

Back to school style never looked so good. Functional, practical and effortlessly stylish, cargo pants, jumpsuits, dungarees, pocket tees and loose fit silhouettes reign supreme. Denim shirts can be adapted to suit girls, too, adjusting a classic pattern with a round collar. Twist to suit your style with a floral varsity jacket or biker jacket.

Gipsy forever

A fashion mainstay, vintage, folk and gipsy style is must-have for the season ahead. Showcasing a range of ruffle designs, lace overlays, embroidered decoration, pompoms and appliqués, rich and textured fabrics also outline the fantasy aesthetic with cotton voiles, detailed knits, jacquards, floral prints, faux fur and chunky crochets.
