The women's T-shirt: easy and essential

Good news for all sewing enthusiasts: Ikatee has just launched a brand new pattern for women's T-shirts, called Tanger. Simple, versatile, and elegant, this model is ready to join your collection of basics—ideal for experimenting, personalizing, or adapting without limits.

An accessible and adaptable pattern

The Tanger T-shirt is designed to offer a straight, slightly loose fit that suits many body types while remaining comfortable to wear.  Thanks to its different options, it can be transformed to suit your desires:

  • short sleeves, long sleeves, or rolled-up short sleeves
  • three neckline shapes: classic round neck, scoop neck, or crossover V-neck

These variations give you plenty of freedom to play with styles, fabrics, and finishes.

An ideal project, even for beginners

One of the great advantages of the Tanger pattern is its simplicity: It is particularly suitable for beginners—especially for learning how to work with stretch fabrics (jersey, interlock, etc.) and how to assemble a collar band or neckline facing.

Ikatee also offers several free video tutorials to guide seamstresses step by step, making the learning experience more seamless.

Sizes, materials, and use

The Tanger pattern covers a wide range of sizes, from 32 to 52, making it accessible for many body types.  The fabric suggestions are varied and suitable: stretch knit, jersey, viscose, linen, etc.  Optionally, ribbing can be used for the neckline, and complementary accessories such as a reinforcement strip or bias tape are available.

Why the Tanger pattern is a great idea

  • An essential basic — The T-shirt is a wardrobe staple, and having a well-designed pattern allows you to adapt it to your tastes, seasons, or fabrics.
  • Highly customizable — Between sleeves, collars, materials, and finishes, the possibilities are endless.
  • Easy to learn — Perfect for getting started with knitting without feeling discouraged by complex techniques.
  • Support and resources — Video tutorials, size guide, clear explanations to help you succeed with your project.

Where and how to find it

The Tanger pattern is now available on the Ikatee website for €17.  It comes with a bilingual French/English tutorial and includes seam allowances.  To view the pieces, see the possible finishes, or get inspiration from versions already sewn, I recommend consulting the product page.

The Tanger pattern complements Ikatee's other sewing patterns, combining simplicity, adaptability, and style. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, this is a quick project to complete, practical to wear, and leaves plenty of room for creativity.

Tanger is the essential T-shirt pattern for any woman's wardrobe. With its slightly loose straight fit, it offers a comfortable and modern cut, suitable for all body types.

Tanger will quickly become your favorite T-shirt pattern, perfect for all seasons.
