Optional elasticated bottom for short version. A comfortable, practical piece for multiple uses.

What you will learn with this book including a sewing pattern: how to create your own raincoat or parka, how to assemble welt pockets, zips, a lined hood, or a ribbed collar, and how to assemble facing and a full lining. You'll also learn how to adapt your garment to your height.

Size range for women: 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 50, 52 (French sizes) or 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20 (US sizes)

The size 32 corresponds approximately to a 14 year old and the 34 to a 16 year old

Fabrics:

Main fabric: cotton fabric such as gabardine or denim (for parkas or jackets), synthetic fabric like polyamide, thicker or thinner polyester and coated fabric (for waterproof items), or water-repellent fabrics (for lightweight windbreakers or “bomber”-style jackets).

Lining: (for the hood and pocket bottoms, and optional for the body and sleeves) cotton or viscose poplin, fine synthetic fabric (nylon-style), microfleece, or sherpa. Prefer synthetic materials for the sleeves (with optional wadding for winter).

Ribbed collar version: ribbing
