2 paper sewing pattern duos:

Woman from 32 to 52 and kids from 3 to 12 years. 

Two sewing patterns for Leggings or Jeggings for women and children.

Two styles: leggings for very stretchy fabrics (like jersey or stretch rib knit) or jeggings for moderately stretchy fabrics (like sweat fabric with spandex).

Three lengths: long, 3/4, or biker shorts. No side seams. Ankle bands or hems depending on the length. Waistband with inserted elastic or decorative elastic. Two patterns for comfortable outfits, essential for homewear or sportswear. Suitable for all seasons.

The leggings have finished product measurements narrower than your body measurements to ensure a snug fit. The pattern is designed with negative ease; the fabric will stretch and fit the body shape well.

The jeggings have measurements very close to the body. The moderately stretchy fabric used will slightly stretch. The jeggings will be slightly snug and comfortable. Its style is between leggings and jogging pants.

What you will learn with this pattern: how to attach an elastic waistband or a band with inserted elastic, how to sew ankle bands, or how to make hems with a twin needle.

The legging/jegging is simple and quick to sew, especially because it has few pieces. It is therefore a perfectly suitable project for a beginner.

Size range for women : 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 50, 52 (French size)

Age range for kids : 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 years

This model is available in sizes 32 to 52 for a height of 165 cm (note: size 32 corresponds approximately to a 14-year-old for young girls). It is recommended to take your measurements and choose the most suitable pattern size. If you are hesitating between two sizes, it is better to choose the size you usually take in ready-to-wear clothing. For example, I wear a 44 in ready-to-wear and a 44 in hips and bust according to the chart, but my waist measurement is more like 86 cm. I made a 44 and it's perfect! The leggings and jeggings should fit close to the body without being tight.

Material suggestions:

  • Leggings: very stretchy fabric. Jersey, rib, openwork, with elastane
  • Jegging: medium stretch fabric. Fleece or French terry with elastane
  • Caution: 100% cotton fabrics (without elastane), even stretchy, can poke at the knees when worn and will be uncomfortable
  • Ribbing is recommended for the ankle band of long jeggings. Otherwise, make ankle bands in the main fabric.
